Welcome

Annual Neighborhood Meeting - January 13, 2009 - Approximately ninety (90) Grove Hill residents attended the annual meeting.  GHHA Board President, John Price gave an overview of the 2008 projects to include new street signs, security cameras installation at both pools, and the addition of a fence/barrier at the back pool to keep people from driving on the common area and gas pipeline at the back of the neighborhood.

Steve Sims with Connexion Technologies presented an overview of Connexion Technologies and the type services in which it provides.  Connexion Technologies is a service provider of cable services and is located in Raleigh, NC.  Connexion Technologies would run fiber optic cable throughout Grove Hill to each resident’s home.  This fiber optic technology would provide high-end applications to include cable, Internet and telephone services.  Connexion Technologies would contract with the service providers to provide these services at the most competitive price.  However, in order to provide this fiber optic technology, the company requires 100% participation, thus ever resident in Grove Hill must pay for the service regardless if they used the service or not.  The proposal provided listed a charge of $70 per month for cable, Internet, and telephone service.  Many residents had questions and concerns regarding the feasibility of getting the entire neighborhood to participate, plus the uncertainty of the service itself.  John Price explained to the residents that the Board will be discuss and vote of the Connexion proposal at the January board meeting.  The GHHA Board voted against the Connexion proposal at its January board meeting on January 20th because of the 100% participation requirement for the neighborhood.

Kimberly Myers asked the Board to consider adding a playground to Grove Hill behind the back pool.  Myers made a proposal to the Board several months ago at a monthly Board meeting regarding the playground project.  Several residents were in attendance to show their support for the playground and many explained how they felt it would benefit the neighborhood by providing a wonderful place for children to play and a place to meet other residents, and how it would increase property values.  Other residents expressed their concerns for the up keep of the playground and the liability to the association.  John Price explained to the residents that the Board would be looking at a variety of proposed projects to include the playground project and many others and would vote on projects for 2009 at the January Board meeting.  The GHHA Board formed a playground committee to review the proposals submitted and to research a variety of options in playground equipment, landscaping, security, etc.  Furthermore, the GHHA Board mailed to all Grove Hill residents, a letter explaining the playground project and a ballot for residents to cast their vote in favor or against the playground project.  Results from the vote will be posted soon.

Welcome to the first issue of the Grove Hill Gazette Online. You might find that it is a little different than the printed issue, in that the stories will contain links that will allow you to use the web for more information on the featured stories. The newsletter will also navigate much like a website, with the navigational links at the top and bottom of all pages. Furthermore, the Gazette is tied directly to our neighborhood website and can be accessed from the Gazette page, where all previous issues can be viewed, as well. We hope you enjoy this new format and find the information useful and informative and don’t worry, you will still receive four issues annually -- the only difference will be that you will use the mailbox on you computer instead of the one in front of your house! If you have a story that you think would be interesting to share with your neighbors please send it to gazette@grovehillhoa.com.
